I decided to have my once in a blue moon “habit” (lol) of cleaning my lair last Saturday and guess what I found. I happened to unearth the keys to my past… the perfect instruments to reminisce the moments that I used to share with my first love: drawing.

I’m not really a “gifted child” like those advertised in Promil commercials, but I’ve been drawing since I was young. Too young that I can’t even remember what age I started. I love drawing and I love telling stories. Combining these two, you get manga*.

As my blogspot states: thefrustratedmangaka.blogspot.com, I am THE frustrated mangaka*. I don’t know why but I’m too awkward to let others see my work. (It took me quite some time to gather enough guts to give you a peek on my works. Lol~)

FYI: manga = comics, mangaka = someone who creates manga ^^

The first manga that I made was entitled “Claire.” It was inspired by the anime Judy (ABS-CBN) that I used to watch during my childhood days. The funny thing about Claire is that the femme fatale appears to be the protagonist. [When I was younger, I liked the female antagonists more than the martyr, api-apihan protagonists. To be honest, they piss me off. That may be the reason why I was biased in creating Claire. HAHAHA.]

Anyway, there are tons of mangas that I’ve already created since then. BUT, the first ever manga that I’ve really put much effort to was “Nina: Witch of Trouble (2005).” This was my first manga to reach almost 300 pages, and the first to be book-binded. ~~Parang may mali sa grammar? Haha.~~

I was a high school junior in 2005 that time. When I finally finished Nina, Towties [my circle of friends, barkada] keeps on borrowing it one after another until before I knew it, most of our batchmates [and some of our juniors] have already read it. (0____0)

Nina: Witch of Trouble

My “second” project was “Wedding (2006).” To be honest, this was the most memorable manga that I’ve ever created so far. Why? First, all of the characters’ names were taken after Towties and some high school friends. Second, my friends helped me with the erasing. Note that Wedding is my first inked-manga [Nina’s in pencil]. Third, one of our high school teachers was able to read it. (0____0) Lastly, I used Wedding as the basis of my script for our Introduction to Film class (Bridal Masquerade).

After high school graduation, I somehow managed to come up with another project entitled “Hapi Haus (2008).” I was able to finish it, but unfortunately wasn’t able to continue with the erasing.

After Hapi Haus in 2008, I started working with what I thought was my last project: “The Apocalypse (2010).” Before graduating high school, I promised one of my friends that I would make a manga especially for her. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to fulfill that promise. Not keeping my word is a taboo to my principles that’s why I ~~forced myself~~ decided to create one and give it to her as a “Christmas gift.” A Christmas gift that eventually became a college graduation gift. I asked one of my closest friends (her neighbor) since she’s still studying in Manila. Until now, I’m still not sure if she already has it. HAHA.

The Apocalypse

All in all, I still have 52 projects on queue. These projects are stories that I actually made when I was still in high school. Whenever an idea (or story) crosses my mind, I write it down as a synopsis and are eventually added on my list.

As of now, you may be wondering about my status as a mangaka. Since I was so inspired after finding these treasures of my first love, I am currently working on the manga version of How to Become a Tough Guy. Yes, the story I wrote in wattpad is supposed to be a manga. So wish me luck, guys.

Ever since my dad passed away, my birthday slowly lost its colors… my whole life actually. January 7 passes like every other day. I still have my mom, brother and his family, Tito Boboy, and Beni [oh, and we have the amazonas too pa pala. Hihihi :3], but having my father’s presence is still different. Even if I smile and “celebrate”, I still feel the emptiness in my heart. My date of birth became just an ordinary day.

Let me tell you a fact about myself. I may appear crazy and wacky most of the time, but deep inside, I’m a really ~~really~~ lonely person. There are times when I feel lost, alone, and unloved. I hate rainy days and sunsets for it reminds me of death. I compare myself to a rainbow, so no matter how much I hate rainy days, I know that I need it to be able to see the rainbow.

This year was different. After a long time, this was the first time that I actually felt special on my special day [redundant ba? Hehe.] Maybe my mom’s surprise did a huge part for making me feel this way na rin. She ordered a fondant cake especially for me… and of course it was pink. Haha. I’m not really a fan of fondant cakes but I was really touched [especially because of her effort in keeping her surprise a secret]. The cake is sweet, as well as she. ♥

My officemates were also a big part of this happiness on my special day. I actually went to the office to go to the gym [since my contract already ended last month]. But they suggested that we eat-out for lunch. Since I don’t want them to be late, we just had our food delivered from KFC. I was surprised to see a blueberry cheesecake from Beanhub [which is really really yummy] WITH a hand-made [?? lol] candle. It was a funny and brilliant idea which touched my heart. We will celebrate again on Thursday. Yeeey.

And then on Saturday, I will cook my special Carbonara ala Tiniwiniyelopolkadatbikinee for Towties [plus my thesismates?].

Even though I feel the pressure as another year has been added to my age [~~most of the people at home wants me to find him~~], as of now I am already satisfied since I feel loved and super blessed. My friends and family made January 7 a very special day once again.

To those people who became a part of my 23 years of existence, thank you very much. Thank you for going through this wonderful adventure called life with me. Cheers!

Towties Fashion ♥

It's 2014: a new year and ~~of course~~... a new addiction.

While browsing the internet, I came across polyvore.com and instantly became addicted to it. Polyvore is a community powered social commerce website. Members curate products into a shared product index and use them to create image collages called "Sets". Polyvore's global community has created over 44 million sets that are shared across the web.

While mixing and matching different outfits, I decided to create "sets" which describe Towties' [my circle of friends] fashion style.

KKBelle's Style

My bestfriend's style is usually the simple tee + shorts combination. Since she likes the color pink, the accessories are usually in this color. Her style is also somewhat influenced by Korean fashion. Heart-shaped accessory is also a must-have in her fashion.

Doodle Style

Doodles' style is composed of statement tees and jeans. She also pairs is up with either sneakers or doll shoes. Headbands have also become her trademark. Maybeline products is also a must for her make-up. :3

Towtie Style

Floral print is definitely Towtie's style. She would always pair floral printed top with denim shorts. RED lips ala Anne Curtis is also her trademark.

Style a la Nadja

Sweater + Jeans + Flats are usually the basic 'elements' of Nadja's fashion. She likes cute-prints may it be on clothes or in accessories. Brown or beige is mostly the shades of her fashion [if I can remember it right... hahaha or gray? Not really sure tho. lol. Whatever.] She also have long eyelashes which, I think, is one of her assets. Lol.

Comfort is the first thing to be considered in Towties' Fashion. Actually, we're not really that fashion-conscious and just wear whatever we like. Trip ko lang talaga gawin to. Lol. Anyway, I realized something while creating these mix and match sets: that I am a girl after all. I'm a late bloomer and after 23 years of existence, only now do I appreciate the art of fashion.

In bullying, etc

A Day Especially For You ♥

I met this amazing girl when I was in Grade 2. She’s small, petite and had very kinky hair. She seems fragile and she’s like the target of bullies in school. We weren’t really close friends. We’re not friends, actually. Just classmates. I have my own group of friends, she has her own. But there was this one incident that I will never forget.

For whatever reason, I sprained my ankle, and as far as I can remember, it was really painful that I’m crying alone in one corner. We both belong to the afternoon class, and that time, my service van was really late and it’s getting dark. For a gradeschooler, 5:30pm is considered VERY LATE. I was alone waiting for my service, and for some reason, she was also there. She approached me and massaged my sprained ankle. I was really hesitant at first since we’re not really close. I don’t know much about her. All I know is that she’s always teased because of her hair. But then, my sprained ankle felt much better after that.

We continued with our own lives as the years passed. Nothing changed with our relationship even after the “sprained ankle” incident: I have my own friends, she has her own. She was being bullied, but she continues to be strong. She’s not the type of person to complain and report to her parents that she was being bullied or whatever. She silently endures the “horror” of being bullied. Anyway, during those times, I’m not the type of person to care. Yes, maldita rin ako no. Hindi ako mabait. She transferred to another school when we were in Grade 5 so we didn’t graduate together.

I was surprised to see her back when we reached our first year in high school. She has straight hair now (but there are still times when she was napagti-tripan-- targeted? I don’t really know the term—by another set of bullies.

I don’t exactly remember how we started hanging out. Before I knew it, she was already my best-est friend. We communicate through the eyes, and we have our own ‘radar’ that even Globe, Smart, Sun, TM, etc. cannot access. She knows what’s on my mind even if I don’t say anything.

I think it was the perfect time for us to become friends because if we became friends during grade school, I would probably end up in the Principal’s office or even kicked out from school dealing with bullies. Seriously. Kkkk~

We are eight in the group, but I don’t know why she’s the one. Is it because we share the same interests? She’s crazy as me? We have the same humor level? I don’t really know. All I know is that she’s special and I love her. She’s more than just the best-est friend for me. She’s more like a sister.

What’s best about her is that she made me realize one thing: friendship doesn’t require a reason on why you should be friends. You just feel it, enjoy it, and treasure it. ♥
